Isaac and Izzy’s Tree House

Children's book cover of kids running toward tree house
Isaac and Izzy’s Tree House by Angela Henderson, Illustrated by Rachael Koppendrayer, 2020

With summer warming the world, Isaac decides it’s time a new adventure with his favorite Sugar Maple. But his plans for a tree house turn out to be a spectacular…failure. And the animals who call the tree home are in a tizzy over it too.

Isaac doesn’t understand why his tree isn’t making some of its magic…until it delivers the most magical help of all— a new friend!

This whimsical tale of delight, discovery, and unexpected friendships is as sweet as sprinkled donuts and will bring you back for another season’s adventures.

Watching Isaac as he progresses from the excitement of an initial idea for a tree house through disappointing results to a successful outcome offers young readers a model of resilience and resourcefulness. We can help them see that adversity can be worked through . . . with a little help from your friends!”

~Carol Jago, associate director of the California Reading and Literature Project at UCLA

This is the perfect book to get your kids outside and into nature to explore and create their own kind of happiness through the beauty of the nature that surrounds them.”

Meet Author Angela Henderson

Angela Henderson resides in Dallas, Texas with her three kiddos where she teaches middle school English Language Arts & Reading. Her inspiration for writing creative stories comes from exploring children’s books with her own children for over fourteen years, coaching  creative writing teams, leading children’s book workshops, attending conferences, and most of all, by being present in the crazy moments of life with her kids. She’s thrilled to introduce her own creative stories in her children’s books, Isaac’s Ice Cream Tree and Isaac & Izzy’s Tree House, where magical moments lead to positive perspectives and unexpected friendships.

Angela enjoys doing school and library visits where she reads her book with the kids, shares the process of publishing, inspires students on their own creative journey, and provides thematic crafts, treats, and confetti balloons!

Christmas card 2022: "Delivery Status: Delayed" The Painted Lady is finished! Here's a slideshow of my progress, from the initial outline to the complete painting. The butterflies are busy in my garden today, providing plenty inspiration for art! At noon I was able to photograph a painted lady on dotted blazing star, a male tiger swallowtail on phlox, and monarchs on prairie blazing star! Painted Lady in progress! I'm almost done with the butterfly and ready to move onto the New England asters. I took my first bike ride of the spring last week, and sure enough, the pussy willows were in bloom, and the mourning cloak butterflies were on the wing! Lost Moccasins Here is Sophie, a colored pencil commission I did this winter! A commission I had for Christmas--Ace the black lab puppy (in colored pencil, of course). I haven't done much for pet drawings, but I was pleased with Duchess here! (For a friend who raises Aussies)
