I brave the winter’s cold and think
Of all that I can see—
Of wandering fauna and hidden beasts
In snow upon the lea,
Of cattails waving in the wind
Beside the icy pond,
Of spruce trees standing thick and tall,
Their snowy mantle donned.
But all the while I watch and think
Of the wonders here that bide,
I’m thankful first and most of all
For my companion by my side.
