Roughly a week after sending in the initial sketches for each page, I received feedback from both the author and publisher on changes they would like to see. Our publisher kindly allowed the author the greater say (something that, from what I understand, is not always the case in the children’s book industry). Read more

Sometimes we do things without the expectation of anything coming of it; for me, submitting myself as an illustrator was one of them. And even when we feel called, as I did in applying to be an illustrator, the result of that calling doesn’t necessarily manifest in the way we expect.
