An enchanting circumboreal wildflower, Twinflower can be found throughout the northern regions of North America, Europe, and Asia. While its common name describes the two blossoms hanging like a pair of pendant lights from each stem, its scientific name, Linnaea borealis, was given in honor of botanist Carl Linnaeus, the father of binomial nomenclature (the two-word Latin names), who dearly loved the plant and used it as his personal emblem. Though at most only 6 inches high, Twinflower is still technically a shrub because of its woody stems, and like many members of the honeysuckle family, the flowers are sweetly fragrant.
